AMD 2.17GHz Barton overclocked to 3GHz

Hardware roundup

IT HAS OUR very own Fudo drooling at the thought of getting his hands on one but the Danes have beaten him to the Prometeia Mach II. The HardInfo site is all in Danish but you can still understand the benchmark results of getting a 2.17GHz Barton to run at 3GHz.

Wannabe case modders without the time to do any real case modding might want to pop over to 3D Velocity. Wayne there has reviewed a Skyhawk Galaxy, it's even got bubble lamps on the front.

The Rojak Pot has been up to some overclocking shenanigans using some rather special DDR2700. The Crucial memory got up to 412MHz. That's a fairly steep overclock from the standard 333MHz.

If you fancy a 9800 Pro but want to stand out from the crowd even further, VR-Zone has the answer. It's still a 9800 Pro but it's a Hercules 3DProphet. They like it enough to give it a gold medal.

If you're hankering after an ATI Radeon but can't quite muster the cash for the top of the range, you could try looking at the 9600 Pro. Beyond 3D and UK Gamer both reach the same conclusion: it's good but you're better off with a 9500 Pro for the money if you can find one.

If a little music while you move your files from one location to another is your sort of thing, the latest JazPiper Ubit MP3 player might just do the trick. DarkVision takes a listen.

Oscar listened to something with a bit bigger sound. He's been auditioning surround sound systems from Creative, both an Inspire 6700 6.1 and a Megaworks 5.1 system.

And Sharky Extreme has been listening to something completely different. They have an Interview with Richard Brown, Via's Director of International Marketing.

There are only a small amount of details but the Sony Ultra Mini Notebook is a small machine. I4U lets you know about the miniature wonder.

OCWorkbench gives you a pictorial view of a rather nice looking AOpen Canterwood motherboard. Of course, there's no CPU on it. But the AX4C Max has lots of nice features.

Keeping with the Canterwood theme for the last bit of the wibble round the wobbly web, TBreak has a play with the Asus P4C800. Abbas likes it enough to label it a recommended product. ยต
