PM's PC hacked by PCs

Cash for Honours row

INSPECTOR HACKER of the Yard hacked into the Prime Minster's PC in a bid to find evidence of a cover up in Britain's cash-for-honours inquiry.

John Yates, the Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner, who authorised the investigation, said that a team of hackers were used after it feared that vital evidence was being withheld by Downing Street.

According to the Associated Press, the coppers also hacked into Number 10's ISP to gain access to government email records. Apparently the coppers had asked nicely for the material twice but were turned down by Downing Street.

The hacking took place before Ruth Turner, one of the closest advisers of the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, was arrested and questioned for several hours about the scandal. What seems a little more spooky is the ease with which the coppers hacked into Number 10. Doesn't Tony have encryption, or passwords or a firewall?

The inquiry, launched early last year, centres on whether Labour and other political parties offered seats in Britain's unelected upper chamber of parliament, the House of Lords, in return for financial support.
