THE maker of ThinkGOS, the Linux distribution dropped by Wal-Mart yesterday, said that the move was not the end of the world as far as the operating system was concerned.
David Liu's ThinkGOS Linux distribution runs the Everex Linux PC which was used to test consumer confidence in the home use of Linux.
According to Chapter11Net, Liu is relaxed about the news pointing out sales of the Everex are fine online and making money from a $199 PC is difficult at the best of time.
Margins on the sale of anything that cheap are too small when a $399 PC will make you three times more. Liu said that in-store sales were only ten per cent of the total Everex machines sold anyway.
He said that the Linux machines in general have done really well and the company is planning further expansion in this area. ยต
