Intel Kentsfield is four core gaming chip

Early one morning
Thursday, 16 February 2006, 07:41
KENTSFIELD, THE NEXT GEN Intel EE chip to be launched in mid-07 has been moved up to early 07. On the down side, it is no longer a 45nm part, it is 65nm.

On the up side, it is going to be quad-core. Yeah, you read that right, Intel is going to jump to 4 cores for EE/XE class parts sooner rather than later.

This part is going to be more or less a dual die part very similar to Clovertown, and it will most likely share all of that chip's attributes, FSB, TDP and cache. If it carries the same performance as Clovertown, AMD is going to have to scramble to keep the gaming crown. ยต
