EMERGENT HAS announced plans to further partner with Nvidia on the company's Gamebryo development platform.
In an announcement which can be seen as a sizeable win for Nvidia, Emergent will integrate Physx technology into all upcoming versions of the 'industry-leading' Gamebryo.
The next release of Emergent's Gamebryo, is scheduled for this Autumn and thus will ship with the Nvidia Physx engine directly integrated into the platform.
Gamebryo has been optimised for development on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC .
It was most recently selected as the development platform for the console titles Civilization Revolution by Firaxis and Splatterhouse by BottleRocket.
Gamebryo is also being used by EA-Mythic for its upcoming game, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning as well as Divinity 2: Ego Draconis from Larian Studios.
Emergent has stated that to date, Gamebryo has been used in more than 200 shipped games titles ranging from massively multiplayer online games, high-end retail games across multiple genres, and casual games.
It makes sense for Gamebryo to use Physx as an underpinning technology - Physx can work across all major gaming platforms, including the above consoles, and the PC, and can be accelerated by both the CPU and any CUDA general purpose parallel computing processor - and obviously Nvidia's own Geforce GPUs. ยต
NV and physics x is nice concept and all .

But Intel /AMD using Havok along with DX10.1= raytracing . Is a better way .

Great IQ + physics. NV is doomed.

YA I know it will be 100 years befor we see RT in games .

It will be nice to see all this physics stuff. It will be even nicer with Ray tracing.

Ya want to bet on it ???
More technology that should never leave the PC appearing on the toys of morons.
How come Charlie DeMargarine cannot write an article like this?
Somebody should "inquire" about it, yuk yuk!
Might be one of a few reasons why the jolly green giant 'seems' to be ok with having more than a handful of faulty chips on the market floor.

Wonder if they've got anything else remotely interesting up their sleeves?

Shonky.
Orangethetan:

My son has both a gaming PC and a Wii (and also has a 4.0 in college majoring in accounting), and of the two, the Wii gives me much more of a workout while playing it. Now you might be content with becoming a tub-o-lard, but I like the physical activity that comes with the Wii.

Besides, you're a Scientology wonk, so it's not like you have any real intelligence anyway, following the dictates (and wallet-draining activities) of a cult started by a failed (and rather bad, I will add) science-friction hack. Plus, the hollywood types gobble that s**t up, so that's another strike against it.

Thetans, indeed. What a scam.

Even though everyone says raytracing looks great, but it sure looks flat and not very realistic nor impressive. I would rather hedge my bets on radiosity/global illumination. The lighting and shadows look more realistic than raytracing. Hopefully NV thinks leaps ahead and executes their R&D faster than their competitors... However they should hire a new materials engineer. The losses that they incurred could have gone to R&D.
