ATI X800XT Platinum clocked at 520/560 MHz

Confirmed by ATI

LAST WEEK WE GOT some mails and phone calls and people claimed that there was a huge inconsistency in ATI X800XT reviews and Nvidia is not quiet about it. This is what Nvidia claimed: That our colleagues at various magazines had their cards clocked for example, Anand Tech 500/550, CHIP 520/560, HOCP 520/560, Toms Hardware Guide 520/560, Ex Tech 520/600 and Beyond3D 520/550.

At that time we were in Barcelona and saw one of the ATI slides presented by ATI's European managing Director and VP Peter Edinger that said the card will be clocked at 523MHz. A rather strange choice of speed but what can you say about 412MHz from Radeon 9800XT? We just got news from ATI PR machine that this clock was actually mistaken, as the cards will ship at 520MHz and 523 was a typo, and nothing more.

I spent some time listenning to te Nvidia conference call and you can bet that Nvidia don't talk nicely about the R420, calling it a two year old marchitecture but we will get back to this later on.

For the record, 520/560 is the Radeon's X800XT clock speed.

Why ATI decided to send the cards with different clock speeds and didn't send all of its NDA press the correct BIOS files is simply beyond me.

Sheesh kebab, what a mess red boys. µ
