Mochasoft ceases breaching the GPL

Awesome power of the INQ
Tuesday, 23 September 2008, 10:30

WITHIN HOURS of us reporting that Mochasoft was in violation of the GNU General Public Licence (GPL), the company announced it would be withdrawing its software products from distribution as quickly as possible.

The initial complaint made in a posting to the GPL Violations mailing list was that Mochasoft was distributing its RDP client software products, which appeared to be derivatives of the GPL licenced "rdesktop" application, without also distributing source code as the GPL requires.

Jan Frydendal, who apparently is the author of the Mochasoft RDP client software products for the Iphone and Ipod Touch that were distributed through Apple's App Store, said he will continue work on version 2.0 of those products and plans to conform to the requirements of the GPL when he releases them.

He added, "Thanks for giving advice on the GPL issue". µ
