Ubuntu Dell is $50 less than Windows Dell

$50 Vista tax
Wednesday, 4 July 2007, 08:20
THE SAVING for installing Ubuntu on an Inspiron 1420 is $50 according to the Dell site.

According to the Idea Storm site, an Inspiron 1420 armed with the latest Ubuntu operating system will set you back $774. The same machine using Vista will cost $824.

While many Linux people might be cheering at the $50 difference it is is worth pointing out that, while Dell is supporting both operating systems, the difference is not that great.

Many Ubuntu users, like myself, would still pay $50 for the ability to play games and run Adobe CS3 occasionally.
