HE'S STILL NUMBER ONE, but for how long?

After 13 years at the top of Forbes list of the richest people in the world, Bill Gates saw his personal wealth grow by a meagre $2 billion to $56 billion last year. Bill's charitable chum Warren Buffet is still at number two, just four billion behind.

Larry Ellison, who does not claim to be a chum of Bill's, fails to make the top ten, coming in with a disappointing $21.5 billion at number 11. Another of Bill's chums, Paul Allen, is at number 19, with a bank account some $18 billion more in the black than mine.

However, the good news is that the average age of the Forbes billionaires is 62, which still gives our esteemed Editor a few years to make the list. µ
