Intel Montecito set for July launch

Won't be at Computex
Saturday, 3 June 2006, 17:40
RELIABLE SOURCES INDICATED that Intel will not introduce its Montecito Itanium processors at next week's Computex show, but introduce the chips in July.

Computex isn't really the right kind of venue for Itanium processors anyway.

According to roadmaps seen by the INQ, the date slated for the Montecito Itaniums is the 23rd of July - in line with other microprocessors, one of the SKUs (stock keeping units) will be a single core processor.

Below are details we hurriedly scribbled on the back of a fag packet. Intel will cut the prices of two of its existing Itanium DPs on the 23rd of July, but the rest of the existing range will be superseded by the new introductions, delayed further than Intel had projected them to be. ยต
