RV560 is nothing much more than the UMC chip, an 80 nanometre semiconductor with 12 pipes and 256 bit memory support. ATI decided to brand it as the Radeon X1650 Pro. This clearly means that this chip aims to replace the Radeon X1600 Pro cards. We are not sure what ATI will call Radeon X1650XT at this moment as it might even use faster clocked RV570 chips.
We already reported that ATI plans to brand R580+, GDDR4 supporting chips as the Radeon X1950 XTX and X1950 XT and the Radeon X1650PRO is just an addition to this naming nomenclature.
We cannot get rid of the quote that we heard from the ATI marketing where one of the honest chaps once said that Nvidia rocks in marketing and that it can manufacture sh*t and market it as gold. The chap implied that ATI usually produces gold and markets like sh*t so we are not that surprised it's being a copy cat of Nvidia on the marketing side. µ
