Intel pushes out bark
Sunday, 6 August 2006, 10:43
WEB SITE GigaOM said Intel will launch a dozen WiMAX trials in India over the next few months.

The article points out that over 70 per cent of Indian households don't have access to ordinary phone lines. Indeed, in rural India, STD booths are often the only way to access a standard telephone.

The first trials will roll out in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bangalore, according to the report, here.

While the ramp of mobile phones in India has been huge in recent years, there are plenty of rural districts where they still don't have coverage. µ
