Supermicro's web sites go AWOL

Is it doing the right thing?
Thu Aug 31 2006, 13:21
ONE OF OUR readers emailed a message to say that Supermicro's UK Web site had AMD solutions listed under the products tab and that two links on the home page linked directly to the Opteron based product.

When an attempt was made to connect to the site only part of the home page was downloaded, which said: Error - Page Unavailable WE ARE SORRY. Clicking on a couple of links brought up the same message.

It wasn't possible to connect to Supermicro's US Web site at all. Instead the error message was: Error 504 Gateway Timeout.

Could the INQ's earlier story have generated so much traffic that the servers were brought down?

Or could it be that Supermicro is now bringing AMD fully into the fold by giving equality to the chip maker. Let's hope it's the latter.

Whatever the problem is though we'll find out soon enough. ยต
