The location of the AMD Athlon 64 launch

Mike,

I don't remember reading anything about the location of the AMD Athlon 64 launch event on theinquirer.net (or anywhere else, for that matter), so I thought you might be interested in this tidbit. If it's old news, I apologize for wasting your time. :)

It seems that AMD plans to hold the official AMD Athlon 64 launch event on Sept 23, 2003 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts ( here) in San Francisco, CA.

AMD is currently running a promotion called the "AMD Athlon 64 Processor High-Tech Treasure Hunt" (http://www.amd.com/hightechhunt ). To participate, one must download the clues (http://www2.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/DownloadableAssets/Clues_for_HTTH_v2.pdf ) and start "geocaching" (http://www.geocaching.com/).

Clue number 16 reads:

16.The site of the AMD AthlonTM 64 launch on Sept. 23, 2003.
LATITUDE: 37.7861535263576
LONGITUDE: -122.401866681696
Choices:
Kodak Theatre
Yerba Buena Center
Disneyland

After issuing a "Lat/Long" search on MapQuest ( here), one receives a map of San Francisco. Once zooming in on the map (full zoom), the "star" is shown on Mission St. A quick check of the Yerba Buena Center's "entrance" page (after the Flash junk^H^H^H^H splash screen at http://www.yerbabuenaarts.org/b_ybca.html) shows that the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is located at 701 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94103-3138.

Disneyland is definitely not the correct location as it is located in Anaheim, CA (closer to Los Angeles than San Francisco), and the Kodak Theatre is located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028 ( http://www.kodaktheatre.com/directions.asp ).

[In Europe, it's the South of France for sure, cos the INQ got invited. This is like Treasure Hunt. :) Ed.]

Do you think the move was justified?
