Opera puts browser on Nintendo Wii

Wii not?
Wednesday, 10 May 2006, 10:00
OPERA SOFTWARE said its Web browser will be loaded onto Nintendo's Wii console.

Thanks to Opera, Wii users will be able to surf the Interweb from the comfort of their sofa, using the Wii Remote controller, the Norwegian company says.

Opera CEO, Jon von Tetzchner, hailed "visionary" Nintendo as a "wonderful partner" for Opera.

Nintendo returned the compliment, with a spokesWii branding Opera "an exceptional addition to both the Nintendo DS and the Wii console."

Opera's browser for the Nintendo DS is scheduled for release in Japan this summer. Nintendo has not yet announced its global launch plans for this product. ยต
