All the power of the interweb in an itty bitty living space

FULL BLOWN mobile broadband is upon us, as long you're a 3 subscriber.

Hutchinson Whampoa, which operates mobile provider 3, has teamed up with innumerable big names in interweb technology to announce its X-Series today.

Deep within the bowels of a black labryinth, that could have easily been a goth club if theres was louder music and a lot more leather, 3 got together a range of bigwigs from Skype, Google, Yahoo, eBay, Microsoft, Sling, Orb, Nokia and Sony-Ericsson.

Apparently this massive collaboration will allow 3 subscribers to have access to all there favourite internet stuff for a flat rate, within 'fair usage' limits, similar to their broadband at home.

Unsurprisingly there was no mention of details such as actual pricing plans, coverage, available bandwidth or data caps, but the INQ has been assured all of this will be made available at the official launch in early December. Of course you'll need a new phone such as the Nokia N73 or Sony-Ericsson W950i to access and run these services.

We are rather sceptical about how this will all play out, but the idea of unfettered web access, tv, remote PC control and VoIP all available via mobile phone is a tantalising one. µ

Do you think the move was justified?
