ATI, Best Buy jump the gun with X1900GT

Our mate Matt already has one

A FAITHFUL reader informed us that he went into his local Best Buy store and managed to buy an ATI-branded X1900 GT retail card.

We note that the card is clocked at 574MHz core, and works at 500MHz in 2D, while the memory is clocked at 594MHz. The chip was heating up to 63 Celsius when our picture was taken.

It was rather interesting to learn that despite the box claims that he bought X1900GT card, the green sticker with a serial number actually declared the card as X1900 GTO.

So ATI did suffer a change of heart when it came to the branding of this product?

Thanks to Matt we have pictures to prove it and he claims that he grabbed one of the four cards available in his Best Buy. You should be able to buy your card next week, as ATI plans to reveal it on the 9th.

The best of it is that ATI itself leaked its unannounced card so it cannot blame its partners this time. ยต
