AMD to push DirectX 10.1

Collaborates on next-gen game titles
Tue Aug 26 2008, 11:13

AMD IS reportedly collaborating with developers to create a new generation of DirectX 10.1 game titles for the ATI Radeon HD 3000 and 4800.

Project participants include Electronic Arts Phenomic, SEGA and NHN Games.

According to Chris Southall of SEGA, "AMD's enthusiastic commitment to new standards such as DirectX 10.1 in the ATI Radeon HD 4800 series is helping us develop a game [Stormrise] which looks better and runs faster than on previous platforms".

Dirk Ringe, VP of EA Phenomic agreed. "With Battleforge, EA is pushing the boundaries of the real-time strategy genre introducing social and community technologies to deliver a whole new online experience. DirectX 10.1 and AMD's graphics technology will enable [the game] to look its absolute best".

AMD recently recently unveiled a DirectX Ping Pong demo that showed off new lighting techniques and a scalable physics simulation. µ

nice article

I like amd and I like games but dx10 is foreign to me. What I would really like to see is an opengl game with a bootable linux kernel on the dvd so it will run on any pc regardless of whether the pc has bloatware or something else installed. I understand there could be driver issues with new pc's so maybe couple it with a usb flash drive where you could store game updates and extra drivers as needed. May as well allow people to install it on the hard drive primarily but give the bootable option to people who refuse to run something as evil as vista.

If only...

If only they'd push DirectX 10.1 onto XP, perhaps they'd have something worth talking about...

How

The programme is called 'How nvidia does not mean it to be played" I'm guessing? ;)

Incidentally "AMD recently recently unveiled a DirectX Ping Pong demo", recently would be march, I'd not call that all too recent myself, in fact it was meant to demonstrate the HD38xx series of cards.

Not too exciting...

Not too exciting considering they all make garbage PC games but I suppose they have to start somewhere.

230' X 170' LCD @ VKing

BiegeThingie, AKA to Scotlanders as Invading VKing People, Had Great EA Like show Display in Opening '8 Olympics Ceremony.
Its on TVTonic in media center & Opening has ONE Huge LCD. So Much of Coerography seems related to Video/Arcade Games in Movement.

Then add LCOS off Roof & surrond TV Screen above Top Seats, Well, I Believe Whole thing is Gretting bigger right on My 15" Screen. Thanks to Game Arts Experiences. Ahso, Dx10.1 has Future compatibility with DX11.0

HD 2600

Hey,

i thought the HD 2600 parts also supported DX 10.1? They have the Tessellation engine needed but I’m not sure of full support. Can anyone do an article to clear this up? Thanks.
