Jobs splashes dosh for voicemail patent

Iphone not quite as revolutionary as thought
Tue Jun 17 2008, 12:35

FRUITZILLA HAS FINALLY paid up to license the Visual Voicemail feature that it pinched for its nifty Jesus Phone.

Apple hailed the email-inbox-a-like Voicemail, developed in conjunction with AT&T, as a revolutionary breakthrough the... voicemail industry. But alas, it was not to be: it turns out that Klausner Technologies had beaten them to the punch and weren't too happy about Apple claiming all the credit. And, we suspect, revenue.

Now Apple has forked out some dosh - although the exact amount is undisclosed - to license the technology legally. Klausner also managed to get Ebay to pay up, which means that there could be some added functionality to Skype coming in the near future.

Klausner said that it now intends to go after Comcast and Cablevision. What a fun life those boys must lead. µ
