New Nintendo DSi announced

Console round-up Xbox 360 for less than a ton
Mon Oct 06 2008, 11:43

PRE-ORDERS FOR THE Pandora are now officially open. If you're a homebrew and emulator fan, you'd best grab one as soon as you can.

Xbox 360
According to a report in MCV the Xbox 360 should now be selling for under £100 in the UK.

Sainsbury's is looking to slash the price to £99.97 for the hard-drive less Xbox 360 Arcade SKU. Every little helps. [That's Tesco's you dolt... Sub Ed]. Drop by your local store to see if you can pick up a bargain.

If you're in Japan you might be out of luck - astonishingly 360 sales have eclipsed those of PS3, throughout the entire month of September.

PS3/PSP
An interesting story, almost-PS3 related, is the possibility of a Cell-based PC card coming to the PC. It may mean easier development for PS3 developers.

Sony is stating that Sony sales are running 30 per cent above internal projections. SCEA chief Jack Tretton said, "We are in good shape. We are tracking at 100 percent up over last year... about 30 percent ahead of where we should be. So sales could slow down and we will still hit our number."

Wii/DS
Nintendo announced a slightly upgraded DS this week, which was slightly underwhelming.

Joystiq has the full details, suffice to say the main features being two cameras, slightly larger screens, MP3 play-back, and built-in flash for downloadable games.

Good news for Final Fantasy fans - Nintendo is going to get new games on both the DS and Wii.

It seems the Wii successor rumours are already being worked on, and the What They Play blog has details. Apparently the Wii 2 is set to hit the market by 2011 and the new console is said to be the true next generation Nintendo console, and far more than a refresh of the current hardware. µ

Sony Internal Expectations

You know if you set your expectations really low, you will always beat them. I hope they are doing better as I like the PS3 alot, but better from what they expected is another question.

pandora

Now filnally a console worth buying with no limits. I was always curious about he gp32 but it didn't really seem that appealing. Now that they finally polished up the edges, they should have a winning combination. Everything from cracking wep, to checking e-mail.

£99 360 - not so much a bargain.

You need to spend lots on it to make it even vaugely usable. It's also going to be one of the soon to be replaced and still faulty "Falcon" units.

Thanks, but no thanks, get a Wii or a PS3...

If you guys would have read the article on the DSi, it says it DOES NOT PLAY mp3 but only AAC encoded music.

Do you think the move was justified?
