Daleks to invade mobile phones

Dum-de-dum, dum-de-dum ....

SOMETHING OF a scoop for mobile content specialist, Rok Media, will be the introduction of full length videos licensed from The Beeb. The selection will include episodes of Sci-Fi classics, Dr Who and Red Dwarf.

The handset memory cards feature Rok's own Digital Video Chip (DVC) technology which puts the video player and DRM onto the card. The cards will be available soon in the UK from Nokia stores plus Choices Video, or via the Net courtesy of Rok.

ROK claims it's the first time the BBC [the Beeb] has licensed full-length video content for use on mobile phones. Dr Who is a cult programme meant for children but loved by Nerds everywhere.

Dr Who's arch enemies the Darleks, will feature on this five episode card which will cost around £17 and is RS-MMC format. Hence they currently only play on specific Nokia models.

Whoaholics will be able to sit on trains while their mobile phones scream "Exterminate!" Eat your hearts out, Trekkies.µ
