Intel gains advantage over AMD on flash

Gets seat on association board, like Kingston
Friday, 11 November 2005, 12:33
DIGITIMES said Intel has gained a seat on the board of the Multimedia Card Association, leaving AMD to watch its rival wield influence in the NAND flash market.

The web site of the MMC Association lists a number of members but AMD isn't on the list.

The Associations avowed aim is to define the physical, functional and interface specs of MMCs.

But Intel and Kingston will be soon, said Digitimes. It said four firms wanted to jump into the seats but didn't say which two lost out. It suggested Intel and Micron want to tie up on flash production. µ
