GAMERS WHO BUY Epic Games software for the Xbox 360 may have to put up with cut-down versions.

According to Digital Spy, Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games, loves with the extra storage space Blu-Ray discs offer over the standard DVD format as it allows him to stick much more content on PS3 based games.

Speaking at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, Rein was chatting about Epic's Unreal Tournament 3 game.

He said Blu-Ray gives his outfit more legroom, "but on the Xbox 360 version we may have to have fewer maps," he said.

The difference between the formats will get worse in future developments of the Unreal Tournament.

He said that it would be possible to fill a Blu-ray disk with all the cool stuff the mod makers make.

Gamers stuck with the XBox 360 could get less.

As it is the next Unreal Tournament 3 will be released on PlayStation 3 in November and the Xbox 360 and PC versions not expected until 2008.
