THE HARD DRIVE division of Fujitsu said it will soon sample a series of hard drives with capacities of up to 250GB and aimed at the notebook market.

The catchily named MHY2250BH is a S-ATA 2.5-inch 5400RPM drive idling at 0.6W and using perpendicular features. It has a sound level of 2.4 bels - one bel is 10 decibels.

The unit will have a track to track seek time of 1.5ms, an average read/write time of 12/14ms, and a buffer to host transfer rate of 150MB/s max.

Fujitsu hasn't yet indicated how much the drive will cost when it ships in volume. µ
