Intel accused of Indian jiggery-pokery

Toys thrown out of resellers' prams

THE BATTLE FOR MARKET SHARE in Asia is taking a further nasty twist, as resellers accuse Intel of preventing them from selling CPUs other than its own.

Sources alleged that Intel India is engaged in a monopolistic push, with resellers being threatened with cancellation of their preferential discounts and benefits if they stock either AMD or Via CPUs.

One distributor told the INQUIRER today that a Via promotional event at the main computer market in New Delhi was disrupted by Intel executives who turned up with the local cops to shut down the show.

And posters, banners and other promotional material is torn down on a daily basis, the distributor alleged.

The INQUIRER was unable to contact anyone from Intel's Indian office to respond to the allegations, but we'll be more than happy to if someone would care to contact us. ยต
