Mod chips, mobos and the odd Athlon 2800+

DANISH HARDWARE website, www.tweakup.dk, says it has the first test of TYAN's Tachyon G9700 Pro card. And because they're first, they've kindly translated their findings into English over here.

The HardwareZoners test the AMD Athlon XP 2800+ that some lucky stateside folk can buy today over here.

Here's a bit of a departure, but one you may find interesting. Inside Hardware carries a review of the Magic 3 Playstation 2 Mod Chip over here. This chip bypasses region coding allowing you to play imported games, as well as CD and DVD backups, they say.

Planet3DNow has a look at an AMD Notebook that sports an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 graphics card. And pretty impressed they are too. The Targa Visionary XP combines AMD's Mobile Athlon XP 2000+ with a ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 with 64MB of DDR memory. In their tests, this notebook beats similar offerings sporting a desktop 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 and a 2.2GHz mobile P4, they say, in fine German. Wibblen Sie hier.

Neoseeker has a review of the AOpen AX4B 533 Tube motherboard over here. They seek to discover whether Aopen's sound tube is just a gimmick or if the tube provides better sound that the regular onboard sound that comes with almost every motherboard on the market today, they say.
