TYAN COMPUTER CORPORATION, provider of server platforms, has today launched its Tempest i5000VS, sporting the Intel 5000V chipset as well as support of Quad-Core and Dual-Core Spintel Xeon processors.

Blimey. The motherboard is packed full of all sorts of techie goodies, shipping with six FBDIMM slots and up to 25GB of DDR2 memory capacity. Tyan's Taro card is fitting on the SO-DIMM slot, which gives support to SATA and RAID.

Danny Hsu of Tyan Computers reckons that the Quad-Core and Dual-Core features will give the i5000vs "superb processing power and boosted overall efficiency." Well, they blinking well ought to, shouldn't they Danny? He span: Quad-Core technology will see "on average" 40-70 per cent performance gains over the Dual-Core processors.

We are assured that the Tyan will be available at an "affordable" price and will be up for grabs early in Quarter Two Of This Very Year. µ
