MARKET RESEARCH FIRM iSuppli said that Micron toppled its Korean rival Hynix to become the number two player in DRAM for the first calendar quarter of this year.

The two firms have been in a yo-yo style battle for that place over a series of quarters, said iSuppli. But in Q1 of this year, Micron (ticker: MU), upped its shipments of DRAM by over 20 per cent.

The whole quarter showed a decline in revenues sequentially of 10 per cent, amounting to $6.6 billion. In the same period last year.
