FB-DIMMs threatened by Microbuffer

Dramurai will take a dim view
Tuesday, 29 August 2006, 14:01
RELIABLE SOURCES suggest a comeback for RDIMMs which will likely make FB-DIMMs, strongly promoted by Intel, run into the, er, buffers.

Microbuffer technology will allow RDIMMs to run as fast as greased lightning without the need for ambs that mark FB-DIMM technology.

Further, sources suggest, Microbuffer technology doesn't have to use any of that fancy signaling stuff that FB-DIMMs need, nor are there problems with power.

The boffins, as my ex-boyfriend Adamson Rust would probably call them, mean the need for FB-DIMMs will be delayed for quite a while to come. Did I tell you that Rust has shacked up with that shameless Cher Price? Sheesh!
