Iphone gets Voice over IP

Genie escapes from bottle, legs it
Thu Sep 27 2007, 08:52

ENTERTAINMENT FIRM, Apple's bid to keep its Iphone within a lucrative exclusive deal with AT&T is looking about as flaky as a bloke with eczema and dandruff who has fallen into a coconut desiccating machine.

In the latest unilateral move to open the Iphone, VoIP outfit Truphone has managed to get its service running on the nice looking but expensive smart phone.

While the outfit claims it has no plans to make an official service for the Iphone yet, it has been showing off the software that will allow it to happen at the DEMOfall 07 event.

Techdigest has a nice video of the Iphone running on Truphone here.

Despite the fact Apple has threatened to brick phones who use such software, it is likely that this is just another genie waiting to break out of the Iphone bottle and apply for asylum in the real world. µ
