The patents in question relate to networking and digital video and that leaves Broadcom in the clear.
Intel had claimed that it had a networking patent which applied to all 10/100 Base-T Ethernet nets, originally issued to Dayna. Intel acquired Dayna back in 1997.
Just as well Intel didn't win that one - there's hundreds of companies producing products based on the 10/100 Base-T Ethernet standard.
The other suit relates to an MPEG patent.
Broadcom (BRCM) claimed the result vindicated the company, and validated thousands of engineers intellectual property and hard work.
The US district course in Delaware will make a decision on Intel's "patent misuse and inequitable conduct" at a later date, Broadcom said in a statement. ยต
