MSI jumps the gun with 7900 GTO

A lot of card for €229+

WE HEARD about a new Nvidia card that is supposed to be launched shortly. It is called the 7900 GTO and will be based on the G71 chip.

It looks like Nvidia has good yields on that semiconductor. The 7900 GTO won't be an OEM/ODM card only - it will be sold through retail as well.

MSI already lists this card on preorders for €231. The card will be known by the stunningly snappy name MSI NX7900GTO T2D 512MB and as you can see it will be equipped with 512MB of memory. It uses DDR3 memory clocked at 1220MHz and the core works at an astonishing 650MHz. The core is clocked at the same speed as the 7900 GTX core. The only difference between the cards is the memory speed, as GTO has memory that works some 380MHz slower but for twice as little money.

The card has 24 pipelines and it looks like it will end up faster than the 7900 GT. This is the full name of the card with the ordering number MSI NX7900GTO-T2D512E, Geforce 7900 GTO, 512MB GDDR3, 2x DVI, TV-out, PCIe (V801-089/V801-110). It is a heck of a card for €229 plus.

You can preorder one here or here. µ
