Nvidia sued in patent row

Scanner wants its ball back
Tue Sep 19 2006, 08:51
SCANNER Technologies is suing Nvidia claiming that the video graphics outfit nicked some of its manufacturing methods.

The technique involved allows ball grid array (BGA) devices to be manufactured more precisely.

Scanner claims that Nvidia is flogging infringing BGA devices that are covered by one or more claims of its patents and is encouraging others to do the same thing.

BGA devices included in graphics cards, motherboards, computers, video game consoles, cell phones and handheld devices that are sold in the United States. So far Nvdia has not said a dicky bird about this.

The press release can be found here. µ
