Friday, 27 July 2001, 15:57
SCHLUMBERGER SAID it has sold one of its ITS 9000ZX systems to AMD which will be used to speed up development of Hypertransport for its forthcoming 64-bit Hammer chip.

The machine is designed to test designs using AMD's Hypertransport bus, Gabriele Sarton, president of the newly formed consortium said today.

The machine provides integrated source synchronous timing over a range of parameters including voltage, current and temperature and will cut down the time needed to bring Hammer products to market.

It will be used to verify chips using the device, and suggests that AMD has upped its move to bring the 64-bit processors to market.

* In other news, Silicon Strategies reported that Jerry Sanders !!! , Tom Eby, and a number of other executives at AMD disposed of shares in the company during July, when the share price stood between $25 and $30. µ
