MANUFACTURERS GATHERED in the Blu-ray camp are gearing up for the upcoming launch of Blu-ray movies.

As you probably know, none of the movie houses have set their recommended retail prices, but rather placed their own prices, leaving it to retail and e-tail businesses to figure out end-user pricing.

The first wave of Movies from Sony pictures is scheduled to launch on May 23rd, during a movie festival taking place in Cannes, on the Cote d'Azur in France. Stand-alone players are expected from Samsung, Sony and other usual suspects.

Although the launch is scheduled to be a European event, the sad fact for eurofolks is that the Blu-ray won't hit the streets in Europe before autumn, most likely at the beginning of Q4. µ
