PCI Express rules PC roost

It's the universal solder
Mon Feb 26 2007, 13:07
MARKET RESEARCH firm In-Stat declared that PCI Express is now all but universal in PCs and X86 based servers.

That's just a couple of years since it was first introduced.

The firm also said that PCIe is infiltrating comms boards and other embedded apps because it's a good interconnect and versatile. By 2010, PCIe will be in 440.2 million devices while it was used in 17 million comms boards last year.

PCIe may be a universal standard for X86 and PCs but, said In-Stat, both PCI and PCIe adoptions are rare in consumer electronics. Well, yes. µ
