Get your AMD Dell for 12 €uro a month!

Dell France jumps the gun with AMD offerings
Sunday, 10 September 2006, 10:36
THE MARCHITECTURE BOYZ FROM Round Rock, Texas certainly won't like those pesky frog-eating colleagues from Dell France. The Frenchies just couldn't let US take the lead with AMD's offerings, so Dell France turned up with Dell Dimension E521 on Saturday morning.

Of course, the specs are closely matched to the ones which we published in our exclusive story, only now there are CPUs involved in the whole package.

The lowest end computer, Dimension C520 will set you back for measly 12 euros a month, and it comes bundled with AMD Sempr0n 3400+, Intel® 945G Express Chipset, 256 MB 533MHz DDR-II SDRAM, 160GB SATA, no monitor whatsoever, nVIDIA 6150-LE nForce integrated, Audio Surround 7.1, DVD+/-RW 16x, one year on-site warranty.

The highest cost option is 849 euros with French VAT, or 28 euros a month. That will get a dual-core Athlon 64 X2 4200+, Intel 945P chipset, half a gig of memory, two hard drives striped in one large 320GB volume, SATA DVD burner and 19" Dell LCD bundled with GeForce 7300 TurboCache 256MB filling the only PCIe x16 slot.

There were 10 or so models on the site, and you can see them if you click on our complementary L'INQ at the bottom of the page.

In case you're wondering why there is Intel 945P chipset posted in an AMD configuration, the answer is quite simple. Dell France wanted to beat Dell USA so hard that they forgot that all those years living in Intel yes, they were quite nervous to be the first, so they just posted the wrong chipset). µ
