Sygate Personal Firewall has security hole

Chink in armour severity is high
Tue Sep 17 2002, 19:49
THE PERSONAL VERSION of the Sygate firewall is subject to spoofing, according to net-security.

An Achilles' Heel in version 5.0 of the Sygate Personal Firewall allows spoofing which could allow an enemy of your PC to attack the host machine by using the 127.0.0.1 Internet Protocol (IP) address, the report said.

Sygate has recognised there is a problem for the Windows based software and will issue a patch to fix the problem as soon as possible.

The severity rank of the problem is rated as "high", as it allows "any form of attack" on a host PC.

You can find full details of the chink in the firewall at this page. ยต
