AOL to cut hundreds of jobs

And will re-engineer its business
Fri Dec 06 2002, 11:51
TODAY'S WASHINGTON POST reports that AOL will cut $100 million in costs and in the process reduce its work force by hundreds of jobs in 2003.

And, at the same time, internalmemos.com has posted an internal message from AOL's Jon Miller, showing the steps it will adopt as part of its strategic review to change its busines.

That includes making narrowband business more profitable, and going "back to basics", Miller said.

AOL will change its strategy to be a multi-band organisation, the memo said, and will strike agreements with a number of third party players. Those include content agreements, and changing the way it offers subscriptions and does advertising.

The Post article says that AOL will cut network expenses, and employees in several locations will lose their jobs.
