Look... If a guy wants to end his life in such an attention seeking way, leave him to it. Why the hell should that make news?! Its ridiculous, I don't care whether he did it over a holographic imaging device, why is that news?! Actually, if he did it over a holographic imaging device, that would be news because I don't even think the top boffins have managed that yet have they? Or have they? THAT is what I wanna hear... More about the INQ world where batteries don't explode, they're them special new capacitors which last forever and everyone's driving cars which can be powered by water with Solar Panels on the roof for the radio and other such stuff. I think its kind of fitting the quote on this page is...

I hopped on over to xbitlabs.com only to find that virtually their entire news comprised links to the Inq.
Gee whizz .... so I went surfing around ... lo and behold .... most of the hardware sites were the same. I won't name them all but you get the general idea.
Methinks I might just keep refreshing ur page ... why look around ... wasted cognitive and fine motor work.
If it isn't on the Inq ... it hasn't happened yet.
High praise team ... high praise.

Subject: "Nvidia Covert Blog Marketing" letter from Mel Steele
Dear Sirs,
Your letters section for March 21st included a missive from someone claiming to be named "Mel Steele" who seemed to be of the opinion that so long as you can convince yourself that the other side is evil then you yourself may be as evil as you like. Possibly another neoconservative? At any rate, regardless of whether his mommy forgot to tell him that "two wrongs don't make a right", hopefully she at least mentioned that being a liar is wrong. To wit, his line, "The news first broke on the Beyond3d.com message board. An item of interest is that the individual who 'broke' this story had received free ATI hardware in the past. In effect, the pot called the kettle black, generated a large stink, and then quietly acknowledged his own receipt of payola from the ATI side!"
Well, now, I am that individual who broke the story on beyond3d's message boards, and here's the thread where I did it on December 1, 2005. http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=26199 Now then, I challenge Mr. Steele to put up or shut about where I admitted to "receiving payola from ATI" before Dec 1, 2005. Many months later I became staff at beyond3d, and certainly our site receives sample hardware from both ATI/AMD and Nvidia, tho I myself have yet to receive any of it (tho this is likely to happen at some point). Currently, I'm running an Nvidia 8800 GTX that I bought with my own money the week it was released.
Best.

Subject: Online Porn, etc... Free speech...
You do know that every computer in the U.S. can be individually identified as of May 14th, right? That big crime bill a few years ago made it mandatory that all ISP's be able to identify all machines. Now, they can tell exactly what you are doing on the 'Net.' Porn? Republican porn? Democratic Porn? Who knows. The U.S. users fought hard against Microsoft and its broadcasted serial numbers and now we are going back to PPOE connections. The whole country is changing because of this law. I'm to tired to be outraged tonight/this morning. I figured Bush would figure out some way to ban or cripple Porn before he left office. Since VISA stopped taking Porn site money a few years back. I'm just waiting to see what they will do next.

Subject: 666 passports
Hi there, theInq!!
It's always a pleasure to read our articles for me as a native russian, learning english :) But by all means the 'satanic' passport note is no more actual.
This story begins in 2001, when russian ortodox church decided that the devil's number contained in every individual taxpayer number (INN as reducted). What's more - the Federal Tax Collection Ministry answered these assumptions by a three pages long detailed "Explanations and interpretation" styled-text, with impregnations of the Old Russian all way long.
Seems like history repeating.

Subject: Humvees, bittorrent, et al
OK, so all bit torrent clients are used for illegal software? I get it. I guess it is the same as for humvees. Humvees were used primarily by the military and for purposes of moving troops to locations where they could kill the enemy, and whatnot. So, by your logic even the humvees sold to civilians are military vehicles used to move them to locations where they can kill whatnot and maybe the enemy?
You have to start to balance what you opine. It makes little sense to categorize all bit torrent software in that fashion. I have downloaded plenty of legitimate stuff using a bit torrent client.
With your attitude spread to ISPs in the future they'd be dropping me from using bit torrent because I used it, and because they assume all bit torrent software is used for illegal purposes.

Subject: IBM keyboards
Hi Mike,
I saw the list of people agreeing with IBM's keyboards, but IBM isn't the only keyboard maker that makes decent keyboards.
Cherry has (in the depths of its product archive) a G80-3000 model, which is also the old-style, microswitched type that takes abuse in spades and allows fast typing. I bought a couple for around £50 each last year - one for my computer, and another for my mother's.
Sadly, Cherry has not seen fit to provide a USB version - so I'm limited to using an adaptor where needed (fortunately I don't - my PCs have all had PS/2 ports on them). I take something of a dim view of Intel's decision to axe PS/2 connectors in its next chipset, but to be fair I blame manufacturers like Cherry just as much, for not producing kit with modern interfaces: If there had been a USB model available, I would have bought it.
Kindest regards,
Oliver
Subject: M-Full of crap - NOT =)
I love my keyboard. Its the same type of keyb. And i love the fact that i can change the shells of the keys when they get bad (not happened yet) or if i want to change the character settings to dvorak withouth buying a new keyb. Im not getting rid of this one untill its completley worn down... and that might take a while as ive had it since it was brand new soo many years ago. And the only thing that has changed is the colour, its now beige from all the sodas, sweaty hand and cheese doodles ive scuffed down over the years. (and more than one pint of beer has hit the keyb too im afraid)
Im thinking of painting the base of the keyb with metallic "the Inq" red paint. But well see, i just cant find out how to open the damn shell =P uses some propiatary nuts. Thanks for a good read, and making me aware that there are more crazed technocrats out there that apprichiate good typing equipment. (btw i have 35% better accuracy with my IBM than with any rubber-key crap, and all errors in spelling is just because im stupid)

Subject: AMD 939 socket comment
Hi, I read someone's comment about how AMD prematurely killed off the 939 socket so that we would not have any way to upgrade to dual cores in the 939, and I completely agree. Although the AMD 939 socket was aging, it's very popular today. I recently upgraded my wifes computer to a socket 939 dual core 3800+. I was able to buy the OEM 939 dual core from Newegg.com. They still have some 939 dual cores left. But the reason I'm writing is, since it's fairly obvious to most people that AMD did prematurely kill off production of the 939 dual cores, couldn't they just go back and start making them again since supply is so low and demand for those chips is so high? Or is it not that simple? This question has been nagging since I read the article. Thanks,
Steve
Subject: Pentium at 14...
Hi, good story about the Pentium, can't believe it's 14 years.
Just a quick note to say I'm sure it was 0.8 micron (800 nm in today's numbers), not the 8 micron you said.
Isn't Google fun? 8 microns is the size of the individual elements of the CCD in the Nikon D70...

Nellie and the EU are the only ones with the integrity to hold MICROSUCKS accountable for their blatant and continuous violation of anti-trust laws.
MICROSUCKS should immediately be fined 100 Billion Euro - that's with a "B", have all MICROSUCKS products suspended from sale or import, and Bill Gates should be imprisoned for the rest of his life for the massive worldwide consumer fraud he has perpetuated.

very clever, a good laugh but fyi, yes if you type in the numbers you wont see 666 , but look at it yourself if you are smart you just might be able to work out wot the 2 little lines close together means.. moron, the code can be read left to right or right to left, there is a sought of uppercase lower case convention, eg the 2 little lines that function as separators actually do look like the "6" ... ignore wot anybody says. and just do your own codebreaking, look for lines and numbers and work out for yourself wot two little lines is.
