EA GAMES has been telling players that they will have to sign up for its mailouts if they want to play its online games on the XBox.

A player called Dan who has a bog here that he was auto registered for EA's mailouts so he could play Battlefield's online demo.

When he tried to opt out of the mailing list he got a letter saying that although he had been removed from the mailing list as requested it will mean that he will not be able to play any EA game on the XBox Live. They asked if he was really sure he wanted to go ahead with cancelling the emails.

Under EA's privacy policy if you sign up to play EA games through Microsoft's Xbox Live Service, Microsoft will provide your Xbox Live user account information to EA so that it can establish an Online account.

According to EA, that means Vole can hand over your name, e-mail address, phone number, mobile number, home address, birth date and credit card information. It always pays to read the small print, it seems. µ
