GOOGLE'S FREE photo sharing and manipulation software gets a refresh today in the form of Picasa 3.0 beta.

According to the world-conquering company's official bog, the new iteration, which integrates with the Interwibble-based Web Albums set-up, is "all about sharing" with a new suite of tagging features which will group your snaps together depending on who appears in them.

The software can now be configured to automagically update your web albums whenever you add new pics to your library, and the software has new controls to specify who can see them.

New editing tools have been added to detect and fix red-eye and there are new merge, collage and movie making widgets. µ
