MEMORY MAESTRO Samsung said it has made 60 nanometre memory chips with 2Gbit (gigabit) capacities which also double write speed.

The firm's "One Nand" range can write data to 17MB (megabytes) per second, double the speed of earlier chips it fabricated.

Samsung reckons that the write speed will reach 136MB per second when eight of the 2Gbit chips are linked together. It didn't say when the chips will be available in volume. µ
