Firms make solar power based glass wall

Store the sun, display the light
Friday, 24 February 2006, 10:18
A REPORT said Sharp and the Shimizu Corporation have created a glass wall or ceiling which picks up the rays of the sun and then releases them at night to light up your life.

According to today's Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the wall or ceiling contains an extremely thin silicon solar battery coupled with hundreds of LEDs that will release light.

You can see through the 60x100x1.6 centimetre panel, said the newspaper, and the panel can convert seven per cent of the sun's rays into electricity.

This isn't futureware. Eighty panels are being installed in an office building in Matsudo. µ
