Man gets electricity bill for over £2 trillion
Brian Law got the bill from British Gas (don't ask), after he moved into a new house last year, and delayed setting up a standing order until he could figure out what the size of the bill was likely to be.
But after he missed paying a smaller payment of £59, he got a final letter from British Gas warning him that he'd be dragged into a court if he didn't stump up the money immediately.
The figure on that final demand was £2.3 trillion and after two hours talking to a call centre, talked to a woman who told him there must have been some kind of mistake.
The Yorkshire Post said Brian was resigned to paying the money and would offer to pay a penny a week to clear the outstanding amount.
But after Yorkshire Post tykes came to the rescue, British Gas admitted there was a mistake in the billing.
