Intel attacks Nvidia, AMD with $100 sweetener

845G push starts

ONE THING THAT Intel has got pots of is coop marketing dosh and system integrators tell us that the firm is sending some of that money their way, in a move aimed at both AMD and Nvidia.

With system integrator margins at an all time low, what they need is better margins and we understand that Intel is going to push its 845G motherboard platform hard with a promotion that could deliver them as much $100 "channel rebate" on its own branded desktop boards.

The rebate is part of an introductory promotion of its "Extreme Graphics" push and is intended to encourage dealers and integrators to sell Intel product rather than AMD CPUs with Nvidia boards.

Although most reviewers agree that the 845G doesn't match anything Nvidia has to offer, Intel does have the leverage to push its product into the mainstream.

Enticing system integrators with a tasty $100 rebate is just the kind of thing that Intel hopes will draw them into its sticky web. µ
