LG Combo HD-DVD/Blu-ray splattered with DRM logos

CES 007 You can't escape the DRM infection
Monday, 8 January 2007, 09:59
THE LONG AWAITED LG combo HD-DVD and Blu-ray drive has finally surfaced in two distinct forms, computer drive and player. Both are hopelessly DRM infected, but at least you can get it all in one box now.

The stand alone model looks like a nice DVD player, but this one has many more logos all over it, plus a new one. This one is SMB or Super Multi Blue, and it has logos for HD, BR, HDMI, Dolby, DTS, DVD and two others I could not make out. It is called the BH100 and will retail for $1199, a small premium over a BD drive.

The computer version is far less odd looking simply like any other optical disk drive. The could not give me an MSRP for this one, but it will probably be at a similar premium over an internal BD drive. ยต
