SPEC results compared

A FILING on the BEA Developer forum appears to show that Intel's forthcoming Woodcrest chips have the edge over the AMD opposition.

The data, here, compares a result using Woodcrest on a Dell box, which the developer claims shows a 50 per cent boost over previous comparable X86 results, and also shows respectable results for big Unix servers from IBM, from Fujitsu, and from Sun.

The tests use Jrockit, which the author claims is already optimised for Woodcrest. µ
