SMIC smacks 12-incher in your face

CHINESE FAB the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) said it's started producing 12-inch wafers in its fab in Shanghai.

Richard Chang, CEO and president of SMIC, thanked the goverment for its help.

Mr Secretary Yu Zheng Sheng, of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee (communist), pressed a symbolic button to mark the production of the first 12-inch wafer.

Afterwards, SMIC opened its kimono and produced the 12-incher for the whole world to see. ยต

Truth is lost again

Inch? didn't the world measure wafers in milimeters nowadays? so isn't it 300 mm or 11.81"?

I see eetimes.com says 300 mm and reuters says 12', so I'm assuming it's indeed 300 mm and reuters just doesn't want to tax the american/british minds too much.
