INSPECTOR KNACKER of the Rio de Janeiro yard has fingered the collar of a group of well heeled drugs dealers who have been flogging marijuana and ecstasy online.

According to Reuters, more than ten people have been arrested for selling drugs using Google's online networking community Orkut.

The police described the people they have in custody as 'upper middle class', which apparently makes a change for them.

Orkut is a by-invitation-only online community run by Google, where members can discuss a wide range of subjects including drugs.

Apparently this group were doing a little more than talking about it, they were also peddling it. It is not surprising that Orkut is especially popular with Brazilians, who make up nearly half of its seven million members.

Police said they first discovered the drug ring through telephone wiretaps and continued to monitor its activities online.
